kick it anywhere

Two best mates who wanted to use theatre, TV and film to tell extraordinary human stories that change how you see yourself and the world.

Kick It Anywhere is an Arts Council-funded organisation that puts on productions across the UK, working with the likes of The Camden Fringe, Bush Theatre and Pinch of VAULT.

This summer, they are putting on a production of Brixton Calling at Southwark Playhouse - telling the story of Simon Parkes, the Founder of the Brixton Academy. At 23, Simon bought a derelict cinema for £1 in 1983, called it The Academy, and created a legendary venue that changed British music.

The theme

We’d like people to base their submissions around the theme: LEGACY

“the long-lasting impact of events or actions that took place in the past of in a person’s life.”

Simon (Founder of Brixton Academy) recently said: “I hope this story will inspire people to think anything is possible. All you need is self-belief, an absolute passion and a little bit of luck on your side.”

Legacy can mean different things to different people; given this, we invite you to be imaginative. To some it might mean looking to your future. To others it might mean reflecting your heritage.

For us, our legacy comes through with the values we live by: Purpose, Community, Family. If we do everything with these three values, then we’ve created a good legacy for Soulstice.
